Le roi poubelle
Élise, a documentary filmmaker, is shipwrecked on a strange island made entirely of waste. The island is located on the other side of the world, in the middle of the North Pacific. In addition to being the only survivor of the shipwreck, Élise is weakened by the recent death of her mother. So she is looking for help when she comes across the strange Trash King.
The sole inhabitant and self-proclaimed sovereign of the plastic island, he gives a second life to the waste that washes up on the beach. Unaccustomed to contact with humans, he first sees Élise as a reject to be transformed in the same way as the others. Then, after a difficult first meeting, they discover common passions.
Despite the affection she has for King Poubelle, Élise refuses his offer to rule the island with him. She dreams of returning to the world she comes from, a world that King Trash despises, because he throws so many things precious in his eyes into the sea.
The Garbage King explores loneliness, mourning, hope and the feeling of having to face the consequences of actions committed remotely by unconscious people.
