La Nouvelle Scène Gilles Desjardins, a performing arts production and distribution center, presents a varied artistic program supported by an artistic committee composed of our four founding and resident companies in Ottawa (CFR): Théâtre du Trillium, Théâtre de la Vieille 17, Vox Théâtre Théâtre la Catapulte. This collaboration allows for a dialogue between different artistic visions and offers you a rich, diverse, and coherent program.
We showcase the creations of our CFRs while opening our stage to artists and companies in theater, music, dance, and performance from the Ottawa-Gatineau region, Canada, and internationally.
We also offer space rental for your events: two rooms with a capacity of 173 and 80 spectators respectively, a third rehearsal studio, and a bar/terrace, allowing us to accommodate a total of around 200 people for special events.

Collective management
Since 2023, LNSGD has been operating under a collective management model, with general management provided jointly by the co-CEOs (LNSGD employees) and the management teams of the four founding and resident companies. This operating model promotes collaboration with the CFRs and better alignment in decision-making.
Founded in 1975, Théâtre du Trillium to the advancement of artistic practice through the production, dissemination, and research of the best in contemporary French-language playwriting in the heart of Canada's national capital. With more than 40 years of experience and achievements under its belt, the company remains at the forefront of all forms of stage works, from supporting emerging artists to addressing digital issues in the performing arts.

Théâtre de la Vieille 17 a creative theater company based in French Ontario with a global outlook, giving a voice to creators driven by social and human concerns. It produces shows for both children and adults and tours them regionally and nationally. It also carries out innovative and unifying theater projects that have an impact on the community.

Since 1979, VOX Théâtre a vast playground and source of inspiration for children and young people. The company stands out for its sensitive and daring creations, which explore different forms of theatrical games, music, sets, and puppets of all kinds to create a world of stories and characters that capture the imagination.

The Théâtre Catapulte its productions to the voices of women and artists from diverse minority backgrounds in order to hear stories and see forms that are still rare on our stages. The company thus aims to awaken critical thinking and open dialogue on contemporary social issues.
Working closely with La Nouvelle Scène Gilles Desjardins, it presents its own creations and those of other companies to the general public and teenagers in Ottawa-Gatineau. Its productions are also presented to Francophone communities across Canada.

LNSGD is the French-language center for professional theater production and distribution for its four founding and resident companies. By putting its expertise at the service of its companies and artistic creation, and by developing its audiences, LNSGD is the place where the region's French-speaking communities come together around the performing arts.
At La Nouvelle Scène Gilles Desjardins, we believe that a creative space can only flourish in a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment. Our policy for creating a healthy, respectful workplace free from discrimination, harassment, and violence reflects this fundamental commitment.
La Nouvelle Scène Gilles Desjardins proud to hold Eco-Responsible Venue accreditation—Silver level, reflecting a concrete commitment to more sustainable practices. We work every day to reduce our ecological footprint: we have eliminated paper tickets, print only one brochure per season, and have reduced the number of posters we print. This approach is also reflected in the bar, where we favor reusable tableware and a selection of local beverages.
Following an organizational diagnosis in 2020 and a pilot project from 2021 to 2023, the board of directors formalized the collective management structure in the fall of 2023.
La Nouvelle Scène Gilles Desjardins reopen its doors after a difficult period for the performing arts due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
With reconstruction complete and artists returning, the theater became La Nouvelle Scène Gilles Desjardins following a generous donation during the major campaign.
Demolition and reconstruction work on the building begins! During this period, La Nouvelle Scène its programming outside its walls, offering shows and artistic activities in various locations throughout the city.
After 10 years of existence, a campaign has been launched to completely rebuild the building in order to better meet the needs of artists and the public and create a functional and modern space.
La Nouvelle Scène presents its first theater season and welcomes its first audience on april 10, april .
After more than a decade of collaboration between the four founding and resident companies— Théâtre du Trillium, Théâtre de la Vieille 17, Vox Théâtre Théâtre Catapulte and with the support of the French-speaking Canadian theater community, La Nouvelle Scène its doors in a building acquired from the National Arts Centre and completely renovated. This center becomes the first professional theater entirely dedicated to Ottawa's French-speaking community, providing a permanent space for the creation and presentation of performing arts in French.
