Gilles Desjardins – Patron
Few business careers are marked by as many successes, distinctions, and instances of community involvement as that of Gilles Desjardins, president and founder of Brigil, a real estate company that is the pride of the National Capital Region. From the company’s inception in 1985 to Desjardin’s receiving of the Order of Gatineau on April 16, 2013, the path Mr. Desjardins has traced in his career is beyond impressive.
From the time he developed his first two properties over thirty-five years ago, to the time his community recognized his major contributions to the economic development of the nation’s capital and his generosity to local causes and organizations, Gilles Desjardins has built a modern and sustainable business that continues to give back to the community. Over the years, Desjardins has generously distributed millions of dollars to support numerous projects in public health, education, the environment, and arts and culture.
Today, Brigil has built more than 12,500 housing units, and owns some 3,000 rental units and commercial buildings, as well as 18,000 lots in 32 current and future projects.
Recognized by Aon Hewitt as an “Employer of Choice” in 2013, Gilles Desjardins has a team of 150 permanent employees and generates work for more than 1,000 people through its subcontractors during the peak season. Desjardins plans to invest $5 billion by 2028.
With the support of his wife, Mrs. Céline Bériault, and his two sons, Jessy and Kevin, Gilles Desjardins continues to pursue his mission: to be a citizen builder.
